PGH / DIGS

PGH / Digs is an art and architectural documentary project started in 2013 by Pittsburgh graphic designer and illustrator Mundania Horvath, founder of design blog Steeltown Anthem and owner of design studio Reconstructing Ideas. PGH / Digs documents residential homes through original graphic illustrations created by Mundania and featured here on PGHdigs.com.

The concept for the project was born during Mundania’s time at the local firm Moss Architects. While observing hands-on drafting from her co-workers, she was inspired to connect her passion for various architectural styles and facades with her own illustrative artwork. “I find beauty in the historic and the modern,” said Mundania, whose creative inspirations come from old textbooks, ghost signs, vintage cameras and geometry. From ranch to row house, Mundania brings her design aesthetic to many different homes and communities, one house at a time.

After launching the project in Pittsburgh, PGH / Digs quickly gained attention from several publications, including Pittsburgh Magazine, HGTV, Whirl, Uppercase Magazine and DesignCrush. Inspired by the acclaim for the work, the project was expanded to include homes from around the country. In addition to creating pieces from her own experience, Mundania has also expanded into creating custom pictures of personal homes; a perfect gift for a new homeowner, family member, or friend.
